Obituary for Earl S Croom

Earl Stinson Croom was born April 15, 1938, in Henderson, Tennessee to the late Aubrey and Lee Etta Croom. He left this earth early Sunday morning on October 1, 2023.

Earl left Henderson, Tennessee and moved to Cleveland, OH in his early 20’s. He was employed at Van Doren Iron Works until the company closed in 1991. Earl eventually worked for 25+ years as the front desk clerk at Highlander Inn, Warrensville Hts., OH (formally Econo Lodge). He officially retired in 2018 at 80 years old.

In 1963 he married Hattie Harp, Centre’ Alabama. Out of that union came three daughters, Donna, LaTonya, and Monique.

Earl was a cool, laid back and quiet man. He had a love for old Blaxploitation films, James Bond, Soul music (Isaac Hayes, Teddy Pendergrass, and Barry White), all sports, bowling and especially a deep fondness for watching horse racing.

He was the last living sibling and was preceded in death by four bothers and three sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Donna L. Croom, Cleveland, OH; LaTonya Y. Denson, Cincinnati, OH; Monique D. Croom, Cleveland, OH; sister-in- law, Lue Elle Croom; 5 grandsons, Robert L. Croom, Antoine L. Croom, Brian A. Turner II, Andre M. Denson (deceased), Michael A. Jones Jr.; five great-grandchildren and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
